Justin’s Appearance on the Kids’ Choice Awards

Justin Bieber recently made a special appearance at Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in sunny Los Angeles, California. Justin looked handsome as ever in a 1950s inspired outfit and hairstyle. He arrived on Nickelodeon’s famed orange carpet wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and a rebellious black leather jacket, with his hair slicked up in the front.

Justin was nominated for the coveted Favorite Male Singer award this year. On March 31st, via his Twitter account, he tweeted: “big shoutout to all the fans who have been voting for me at #KCA for #FavMaleSinger – i appreciate the love. Good luck to all the nominees.” Justin, who has been hard at work in the studio lately on his newest album, “Believe,” was not expected to be present at the ceremony, so his surprise appearance was a special treat for his delighted fans.

This was Justin’s second time receiving another Kids’ Choice Award. Last year, at the 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards, he was also nominated and won for the same award of Favorite Male Singer. He also won the award of Favorite Song for his hit, “Baby,” featuring Ludacris. This year’s win makes for another exciting new milestone for Justin. Justin’s girlfriend, actress and singer Selena Gomez, was also nominated this year and took home two awards: Favorite TV Actress, and Favorite Female Singer. The winners of the Kids’ Choice Awards are chosen by voters who participate in online voting before the show at Nickelodeon’s official website, Nick.com.

At the end of the awards show, Justin was presented with the orange trophy in the shape of the Nickelodeon “blimp.” Justin’s gracious appreciation for his fans has been one of his trademark qualities since the start of his career, and the KCA’s were no exception. During his acceptance speech, he said: “Right now, I’ve been working really hard on my album, “Believe.” This album is our album. This goes out to all the fans. I love you so much.” He also tweeted later that day, “THANK YOU TO THE FANS!! I wouldnt miss an award from you guys. It has always been us against the world! I LOVE U!”

Of course, no Nickelodeon event would be complete without the tradition of getting “slimed.” In true Nickelodeon finale style, at the end of the show, he was covered in bright green slime from head to toe while the show’s host, Will Smith, held onto Justin to keep him from escaping his big slime time moment! Fortunately, there were no hard feelings from Justin, who is always a good sport. After the show, he tweeted: “i didnt get slimed. I got destroyed BIG WILLY STYLE! Haha. #SlimeISCOLD.” It probably helps that Justin is already on good terms with Will Smith and his family. Will’s son Jayden was featured on Justin’s popular song, “Never Say Never.” Jayden’s younger sister Willow Smith, who is known for her hit single “Whip My Hair,” also went on tour with Justin a few years ago as the opening act for his concerts.

On April 1, just one day after winning the award and getting the slime treatment, Justin tweeted out: “WILL GOT ME. CLASSIC. only 1 bad thing though. slime didnt come out. hair grows back. looking like i did when i was 10.” Of course, most of Justin’s fans would agree that he looks great no matter what hairstyle he’s sporting, and his new, mature style is a great look for him at the release of his newest single, “Boyfriend.” His much anticipated new album, Believe, should hit stores sometime in the summer. If this year’s success is any indication of the future, then there are good chances that Justin could be making another appearance at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards a year from now!
