Justin auctions off his hair???

On February 23rd,2011 , Justin appeared on Ellen DeGeneres talk show, appropriately called “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Her talk show is famous for being a bit tounge-in-cheek and doing things way out of the ordinary. The haircut was planned as part of Justin’s appearance on the show. Shortly after the “haircut heard around the world”, Justin gave a lock of his iconic hair to talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres. She graciously took the gift and had great plans for it.

Most recipients of such a unpredictable and unique present would put it in a safe lock box, or put in a precious locket to be worn around their neck day in and day out, but Ellen (with Justin’s firm approval) decided to put the locks up for auction in the name of chairty.The hair was put in a box that Justin signed, giving it further value.

On air during the talk show, he reassured his gracious host, fans, and those interested in charitable causes that he was doing this for good, not to be silly. When he gave the hilarious talk-show host the hair, he reassured her that it was, in fact, his. In his own words: “Yes, it’s really my hair, but there’s a perk: I wanted to do something good. I’m giving pieces of it to different people,”… and later he commented further on the matter adding “The thing is, we’re doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want.”

On Wednesday, March 2,2011 the memorabilia went up for bid. After 98 bids, the locks were sold to an anonymous buyer at  $40,668 USD. Ellen DeGeneres and Justin Bieber decided that the proceeds were going to be donated to the Gentle Barn Foundation, an animal-rights organization based out of California.

On the live Ellen DeGeneres show ,Justin was asked what on earth inspired him to cut of pieces of his precious locks, and give them away (there were a few other recipients), His response? “I was inspired by yours,” (referring to Ellen’s hair, which is a light blonde that is hard to attain.)

Another recipient of a few strands of the invaluable locks was the celebrity and gossip blogger and “Host of Hollywood’s most sassy website)Perez Hilton. Many follow Perez’s blog on a more than once daily basis to get the best and “juiciest” gossip about any celebrities. Fortunately, the man has a good sense of humor, and adored by many celebrities. He, of course had a very prompt response via his blog, writing  ”Not only did Justin Bieber get a haircut, but the teen phenom tells us that he is going to be divvying up his shorn locks to help raise money for different charities. And, he’s giving Perez some of his hair to auction off! We’re working it all out now, and we can’t wait to tell you what good we hope to do with Bieber’s hair!”

Wow, Everything of Justin’s is just invaluable it seems. I wonder what he will do next, as we are having a hard time keeping track of all things Justin has done, or been a part of in the name of charity.
